Week 3: Day 4

Today's weather was a much appreciated departure from yesterday's scorcher
The kids had music and art for electives today. Unfortunately, I had yet another art class to tend to, so I had to miss most of music (but I did manage to snap a couple pictures).

Group Shot right before we filmed our Second Grade Intro

During Language Arts, we watched a short cartoon and used our observation and reading comprehension skills.

TaeKwonDo with James Teacher. The boys had ALOT of energy to exhaust...

Christopher really wanted me to take a picture of his triangle shaped "kim"

I suppose we'll never know what they were talking about... kekeke

Music Bingo!

Second Grade is working hard during art. Today we experimented with water and oil based mediums.

Week 3: Day 3

AKA, the day the Sun engulfed planet Earth.

IT.
WAS.

SO.
HOT.
TODAY.

I don't think anyone was especially happy about the amount of sweat dripping through their shirts today, but we managed to make the best of it.

I wish I could have taken more pictures during the game, but most of the teachers efforts were focused on keeping out kids cooled. We were armed with water bottles, ice, and lots of spray bottles. It was so hot that we decided to leave a little early. The air conditioned van was a very welcome change. Thankfully, everyone got home safely.

On the road!

Sangjoon was so excited to get his picture taken hahaha

Group Shot!

despite the hot weather, Christopher tries his hardest to smile. Amanda is more honest though

Sangjoon keeps cool with his frozen waterbottle

Jessica was feeling (uncharacteristically) camera shy

Week 3: Day 2

Week 3: Day 2

Unfortunately, I had to teach art for the Pre-K so I missed out on cooking and gym time photos.

The "On Time Squad"!

Today we learned about humility and how Jesus washed his disciple's feet

In Bible study, the kids had to close their eyes and imagine the story as Pastor Isaac reads it to them

"OOOH! IT FEELS SO GOOD!"

Afterwards, we played "Do You Love Your Neighbor"

"Chloe, do you love your neighbor?"

Apparently, she loves everyone

Hot dogs for lunch!

For cooking, we baked Dark Chocolate Cranberry Cookies. The kids learned how to look at recipes and how to measure ingredients.

The Recipe:

Makes About 2 Dozen
Ingredients:2 Sticks (1 cup) of Unsalted Butter
1 ½ cups of Sugar
½ cup of Brown Sugar
1 tsp of Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 ½ cups of Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp of Salt
1 ½ cups of Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1 cup of Dried Sweetened Cranberries
Process,
1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

2) In a large bowl cream together the brown sugar, granulated sugar and butter, add the eggs and vanilla and whisk to combine.

3) Add the baking soda, baking powder, salt and flour, mix to combine.

4) Fold in Cranberries and Chocolate Chips

5) Drop dough by tablespoon full a couple inches apart on a non stick baking sheet. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes and let cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
They turned out delicious! Other grades were impressed and the kids were happy to have made their own cookies too.

Week 3: Day 1

Hello Everyone!

I'm David Lee, the Second grade TA. Terribly sorry for not posting before, but I'll be here to post as much as I can now!

[commence super long photo post]

We started off the day with Bible Study. Today we learned about how Jesus put himself before others like in Matthew 25:28. In the spirit of this we had a race where we carried each other across the finish line.

Jennie and Jessica get ready to race!
Christopher, Brendan, and Joshua can't wait to start!

And off they go!
Some of the girl's just couldn't stay awake after
In Language Arts, we made books on "Our Typical Week"
While waiting for the van to come, I messed around with the filters.
Andy just couldn't put his book down
Amanda looks up from her book for a photo

Friends!
Joshua and Jessica spent a while reading on that chair together

Rachel is concentrating very hard
The boys reading quietly together
Chloe looks hard for a book
Freeplay Time!
I told Jessica to let me take a picture of her: this is what happened.
The class attacks Mr. Lee while I "supervise"

The face at the end of a good day at VBS

We're all very excited for another great day tomorrow at VBS. We will be baking cookies for a competition and creating art.
