Field Trip Notice for Week 4

Hello parents!

We apologize for the late notice but our field trip to Turtleback Zoo has been canceled due to the high chance of rain for Friday. Instead, we will be going to Screamin' Parties of Nanuet! At the place, there will be places where children can get active and run around. Please have your children wear their VBS t-shirts and sneakers with socks! Thank you! :)

Past 3 Weeks

The past three weeks went by so quickly! On the first week, the students learned about place values. They were able to pick that up very quickly so by the next week, we were already on telling time! For reading, we learned about story elements by reading Enemy Pie by Derek Munson together. On the third week, we learned how to count money and how much each coin costs. Also, we read You Are Special by Max Lucado and learned about character traits. For science, the students have gone through different experiments such as making a mini lava lamp, make a butterfly diagram with dried pasta, and grow beans!

Introduction for Summer 2015 Teachers

In the meantime, we would like to introduce the teachers and staff of 2nd grade!

Ms. Jennifer

Hello everyone, I am very honored to be working with your children this summer. They are a joy and bring so much innocence and light into our classroom. I am an ESL and Elementary Education Teacher and I graduated from Rutgers Graduate School of Education. Palisades Summer School has been a blessing to me, as I love working with children especially where I can apply my faith and Jesus' teachings in my own teaching methods. I sincerely hope and pray that your children will enjoy, grow, and learn during the upcoming weeks!

Mr. Bong

Hello! It is a pleasure to have such bright children as my students. I am serving here as the 2nd grade TA and Lego teacher for 1st to 3rd grade. I am still studying in college, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Education and Psychology, to become a high school Math teacher, but it is a great experience and I am really excited to help them grow both academically and spiritually.

Ms. Jasmine

Welcome parents! My name is Jasmine Kim and I will be the 2nd grade Teacher Assistant and Origami teacher for 1st to 8th grade. I will also be contributing to the blog every week! This fall, I will be going into my 4th year as an undergrad majoring in Psychology and minoring in Mathematics and Education. I will also be in my first year of Graduate School for Elementary and Secondary Education with a subject matter specialization in Mathematics. I hope that our students will have tons of fun and learn new things this summer! I'm really excited to see what God has in store for our 2nd grade class! :)

Ms. Kaitlyn

Hello parents! My name is Kaitlyn Yu and I will be a volunteer for the 2nd grade class at Palisades Summer School. This fall, I will be attending my junior year of high school. This summer marks my second year of volunteering at this camp, and I am absolutely thrilled to be working with your beautiful children. I volunteered for the 1st grade class last year, so I am seeing some familiar faces :) Each child is an absolute joy and brings so much love to our classroom. Over the course of the summer and into their school year, I hope and pray that your children will work hard, have fun, and learn to place their faith on God.

Our 2nd grade class for 2015!

Welcome parents! We apologize for being 3 weeks late on our blog posts! We have been so busy getting settled and having fun with our class. Please visit the site often to see pictures and learn more about what we're doing in class!
